After the summit day, the city gives you what winter actually needs: steam rising from thermal pools, warm cafés, busy ruin bars, good restaurants, and the Danube at its most atmospheric. This is not a city that shuts down in winter — it gets more intimate.

Budapest's thermal-bath culture is real, not decorative. Széchenyi, Rudas, Gellért and the smaller historic baths turn a cold business trip into something people remember. Add the riverfront, the Castle District, the Jewish Quarter and better value than many Western European capitals, and staying an extra night becomes an easy decision.
